2025 Vibe Check: People, Platforms and Perspective

As 2025 winds down, I’ve been reflecting on just how much ground we’ve covered at CalibrX this year. It’s been one of those years packed with movement, momentum and meaningful conversations. The kind that stretches you professionally and reminds you why you do this in the first place. 

A big part of that energy came from being out in the ecosystem. We attended and supported a range of events, including Dreamforce, DUDB (Brisbane) True Blue Blazing (Melbourne) and several after-parties that often end up being just as valuable as the main agenda. 

A good energy

And it’s safe to say that the energy was a common denominator. No matter where we went within Australia or overseas, the feeling around the industry was one of camaraderie and excitement for the changes that are reshaping how we work together.

Speaking of vibe-checks, the standout for me was Dreamforce in San Francisco. There is something about being in that global centre of innovation that sharpens your thinking and expands your perspective. You feel the pace of the industry in real time, and it is both exciting and grounding to bring those insights back to the Australian market.

HubSpot makes its mark

One of the personal highlights this year was our deepening ties with the HubSpot community. CalibrX got to speak at a HubSpot event on the state of the market, recruitment, and where talent is really heading.  We recently sponsored a partner day event with some great insights and projections for 2026, along with hosting an awesome and unforgettable boat party on Sydney harbour with top HubSpot partners.  

Our own Ian McDougall made the trip to San Francisco for Inbound which only added to that momentum. HubSpot is clearly in a strong growth phase, and we are seeing increasing demand for skills in this space alongside Salesforce and other CRM platforms. The lines between platforms are becoming more fluid, and talent is responding accordingly.

Rising agent

The rise of AI agents has been impossible to ignore. Whether in Salesforce, HubSpot or across broader tech stacks, everyone wants to be part of building or working alongside intelligent automation. What has been interesting is not just the speed of adoption, but the appetite for people who can shape these tools responsibly and strategically. The tech is powerful, but it is still the people behind it who make the difference. That belief continues to sit at the heart of how we recruit, advise and partner with our clients.

The state of business

From a business perspective, it has been a strong year for both candidates and customers alike. We have had the privilege of supporting people through major career shifts and helping organisations build out teams that will define their next stage of growth.

Along the way, we have shared a lot of advice, practical guidance and honest insights about the realities of the market. Those conversations, many often behind the scenes, are some of the most rewarding parts of what we do.

Personal growth

On a personal note, life outside of work was just as full. I married my partner of ten years, and I also continue to juggle the very real challenge of running a business while raising two fast-growing girls aged four and two. 

It is chaotic, humbling and incredibly motivating all at once. It puts everything into perspective and reminds me that success is not just measured in placements or revenue, but in finding balance and meaning as well.

Time to exhale

As the year closes out, I’m looking forward to a few slower weeks in Sydney. A chance to reset, spend time with family, and make space for ideas before we step into what is shaping up to be another big year.
